Everyday a soldier dies for the American public while serving in Iraq and Afganistan. Why shouldn't we honor them as we did for the students at Virginia Tech?

I agree. Maybe the flag should be flown upside down as an indication of distress.

No, President Roosevelt or President Truman did not consider this in WWII and there were more casualties on some days than the total in the middle east. I know everyone is dreadfully sorry about KIAs ; none more so than active and retired soldiers but they are and always have been the cost of our freedom.

By the way in this conflict bringing the Troops home will not stop enemy attacks as it did in Nam. It is hard to accept military deaths and the nation being at war - but that is the case and will be so as long as the nation is the target of the Islamic terrorists. The casualties has and will include American civilians in this war.

i believe in giving all the understand to infantrymen that we can, both alive and deceased, besides the indisputable fact that conserving the flag at 0.5 mast for the coolest purchase of the conflict is ridiculous. putting the flag at 0.5 mast shows understand for the victims of a great tragedy, or the shortcoming of existence of a great political chief (along with a president) and they deserved to be venerated. If the flag develop into continuously at 0.5 mast, it would want to now not be a demonstration of understand, besides the indisputable fact that it would want to develop into the "time-honored" and it would want to right away recommend not something.

No, I don't agree. Our country gets involved in wars so much it would be depressing to see the flag at half mast more often than not. I believe in the tradition set forth in matters involving the US flag but an occasional deviation is fine with me and that massacre occurred on our soil, those people need to be mourned and remembered.

I agree. that would be the honorable thing to do in respect to the families of the fallen soldier. But all the families get is that the soldies are "Heroes", what is that!! isnt that a Tv show.

You are completely right.

I'm not sure why we have the flag at half-mast for the Virginia Tech massacre. Time for old glory to rise again.

i agree with you
just as hanging a flag upside down is a sign of distress
the half way mark commemorates the dead ,
to indicate mourning [perhaps we are chosing not to mourne our soldgers

[it it perhaps even worse they are being sacrifised to the god of war and old glory ,that celibrating the flag flying high celibrates their deaths [old gory]]
