Because Japan is a sovereign nation and not ruled by any government other than the Japanese government. If you want them to stop hunting whales then send them a letter and ask them to stop. Asking us why we "allow" such a thing is arrogant and eliteist. This is an example of why a "One World" government would never work.

Japan is a sovereign nation who answers to noone. The only way you could stop "allowing" them to do as their nation please would be to declare war and use military force to stop them. Going to war over whales would be a really bad idea, and America has no business telling the Japanese what to do, and whales are a food source like any other animal . . . . basically, it all boils down to it being none of our damn business.

We could take a stand by imposing economic sanctions, but we won't, because that would cost American corporations money, and we will not practice what we preach if it means Big Business has to lose one penny.
