Although same sex 'activities' have been around for as long as people have roamed the Earth, it was actually the English that invented homosexuality- specifically the Victorians. It was during Queen Victoria's reign that the word was coined when they needed a term to put in the laws when outlawing the practise. Interestingly, the law was only aimed at men because Queen Victoria did not believe that women could act in such a way.

No they didn't. I answered a questions like this the otehr week. The word "camp" comes from the french word "campa" and then turned into gay, but I do not have the information with me to explain why. If you need that info please email me and I can hunt it out for you. Homosexuality has always excisted. It will originat back to not long when humans roamed the earth. Homosexuality I think started to become more "practiced" in the early days of ships. These ships didn't have women on of course, as women were "cursed". So with the lack of women, sometimes the men became desperate and started ont eh same sex, but if caught they would most surrely be hanged, or severly tortured. Gayism took off big time as "rights" became popular. As people knew that they could do nearly whatever they wanted, they became to practice this more. Today it doesnt matter if you have it off with a horse...just because we have "rights"...which can be good..or can be very bad. Anyway thats another subject. L8as..
Oh and btw to that ignorant person saying this is racism, this is not. And neither is it slanderous. You calling him a moron however, is. You are legally liable for him to sew you. If I said "the French are idiots" that is mild racism or "gays are freeks" that would be racism..but its just a discussion..dont create rubbish! John

Just because England was the first country to illegalise homosexuality, it doesn't mean that it was the first country to *have* gays. As for the first country to have gays, then given that Bonobos exhibit gay behaviour, we'd have to go back a VERY long way into our ancestory.
Interestingly, Queen Victoria refused to believe that women would or could be gay, and so refused to sign a document that would make lesbianism illegal.

No country could have 'invented' homosexuality because it is a genetic in balance that means you are attracted to the same sex.
that is like saying somebody 'turned' gay!
