If I have hazel eyes and my baby's father has blue eyes...what are the chances the baby will have blue eyes?? And do baby's eyes change colors a few months after birth?

My son was born with dark purple eyes and at 18 months it's FINALLY changed to a blue.
Also, it's more than just what color of eyes you and your baby's father has. Genetics also looks back at YOUR parents and grandparents as well as your baby's fathers parents and grandparents.

Generally, a baby's eye color has set by 6 months. However, there is a chance it could change as late as 18 months.
If I remember correctly, hazel is a more dominant trait than blue, but both are recessive. Depending on what the other recessive traits are, I want to say that 1/4 of your babies will have blue eyes, 1/4 will have hazel, and 1/2 will have brown eyes.

Yes babies eye colours change. Blue eyes are those without pigment, while hazel, brown etc is presence of pigment and is the dominant condition....depending on your parents eye colour (if both parents and grandparents had brown/hazel eyes then its more likely your baby will get hazel eyes (75%-100%), if only 1 parent was hazel there is less chance (ie 50%) that your baby will be hazel).
Also there are other genes involved in eye colour (called modifier genes) which also may effect the final outcome of eye colour which will take a few months for the pigmentation to get up and running.

Blue is the least dominant eye color. If your parents or grandparents have blue eyes, you may well be carrying a recessive blue "gene". This means that you would have a 50/50 chance of having a blue-eyed child. If there are no blue eyes in your parents or grandparents, the odds are next to nothing! Your eye color will dominate your husbands. Yes, babies eye color will change, I have seen it happen real fast, especially if they are going to have brown or hazel eyes. I have also seen it take up to two years, which was the case with my younger brother who was born with blue eyes are they eventually turned green. Good Luck!

Yes babys eyes change color after a few months. i have hazel eyes and my husband has blue eyes. Both of our kids ended up with brown eyes. Brown is very dominent.

Baby's eyes will change over a few months. Blue eyes are a double recessive trait, so your baby can only have blue eyes if your partner carries the gene. If his siblings or mom or dad have blue eyes, that would be a clue.

someone once told me that if one parent has blue eyes it has a greater chance of blue than the other color, which in your case is hazel.
The colors do change, they start off with blue but they won't change if their eyes are the same shade of blue.

The baby most the time gets there eye color from there mom. Yes they do change with in three months of birth.

50/50 for blue eyes. Some times they do change color around 6 months old, but you can not always count on that taking place.

All babies are born with blue eyes. The chances are your baby will have blue eyes esspecially if your having a girl as girls tend to inherit the fathers colouring.
