I Want to set up a 75l-90l Dwarf puffer species only tank. I wonder if anyone could tell me any information about setting up a tank like this, e.g what substrate to use, how many plants to use and any other info you could give me about the tanks. All answers appreciated.

The more plants the better! You should fully cycle your tank before you add the dwarf puffers - they are highly sensitive to ammonia and nitrite - and a good filter. Find a source of snails or shrimp/krill with the shell on - they'll need something hard to keep their beaks worn.

NOTE: Dwarf puffers are a true freshwater species - they don't need salt like the brackish species.

Please do your research on the TYPE of puffer you decide to get. Each species has their own requirements from shells in the tank, what kind of substraight to water conditions. Since there are freshwater, brackish water and salt water puffers, each species will require different items. One thing they all require however are shells or rock to keep their teeth filed down. Puffer teeth never stop growing and if not feeding them small snails or shrimp they need to file them.

These sites will also give you good types of plants to use as well as the different types of puffers.

good luck with your new fish.

i be conscious of that eco-friendly said Puffers do get extremely aggressive, and also get very large, about 6" if cared for perfect. they are brackish fish, and are often kept with different species than their very own. those are my commonplace type of puffer fish because of their unique structure and face. Your one hundred ten gallon tank might want to be perfect for one among those, between different fish which have compatibility with them! sturdy success. :)

biggest problem i had with dwarf puffers is they kept getting pulled into the intake of my hang-on-back filter. make sure the holes in the filter intake are really, really small.

The substrate should be sand. The water should be hard and brackish, ask the petstore first about the pH of their puffer's water bcoz it might make the puffer sick if the pH are very different,
