oooooooooooooooooooh.... tough one.
Both superlative musicians.... for completely different reasons.
When you get to this level of excellence it's a matter of personal preference.
That said- I'll cast my vote for Hendrix, because his playing is just.... sexy.

Did you decide about how exactly you mean "best?" Clapton is way better in every respect than Hendrix, mainly because Jimi's been dead for 36 years. There is no "best" because everyone is different and can't really do what others do. Learn that and be a smart one among fools who look for "best."
