I know this is an unfair comparison due to the fact that Rogers hasn't seen much playing time but in the long run, who will be the better qb?

I think of this as Smith being Eli Manning and will be great and Rogers being Phillip Rivers playing bench for a few years and coming in when Favre retires and being successful.

So i have to questions which will be better, and who agrees with the analogy?

Impossible to say, obviously, but I don't think Aaron Rodgers is going to remain with the Packers anyway. Remember that Mike McCarthy was with SF when they passed on him for Alex Smith to begin with.
That means either A.) McCarthy simply liked Smith a little more than Rodgers, or B.) he doesn't believe in Rodgers at ALL. Given the lack of playing time Rodgers has gotten (even in blowouts), I'm leaning toward the latter.

But to answer your question, I'd guess Smith will be better simply because he HAS gotten this much playing time. He's gotten a much earlier start than has Rodgers. (Of course, losing Norv Turner won't help Smith.)

While I do see similar comparisons in their situations, I don't think you can really compare the two. Playing Quarterback in the NFL is the toughest position in professional sports. It requires physical and mental toughness, leadership skills, thick skin, along with many other intangibles. That, along with a player's supporting staff, family, and friends determines their success in the NFL.

I believe Alex Smith in his third year will make big strides with an improved offense and being in the same offensive scheme for the second year, while Aaron Rogers will continue to ride the pine until Farve retires, which may not be for another year or possibly two!

Watch tap on Alex Smith.
He does whatever it takes to win.

Watch tape of Aaron Rodgers.
There isn't much to watch, is there?

Right now, it looks like Alex Smith will be the better of the two.

In the two seasons he has played, Aaron has not done much.

Aaron Rogers is a perrenial backup at best. If S F had a decent QB, Alex Smith would also be a perrenial backup at best.
