1st of all, only some songs that are country are redneck. Second of all, I enjoy some music, just not all, and I am no redneck person. I go for songs by Carrie Underwood, and songs that have a little bit of pop touch. Some country songs I can't stand though, like Give it Away.

You need to take an IQ test. You probably get a very low one.
Rock music is not the best music genre to most of the world so don't stereotype everyone. Country Music actually has meaning instead of people with long hair headbanging and singing death crap. Maybe it's you who is wrong instead of your "rednecks".

There is just something about country music that makes you feel good. sometimes there are some good stories behind the songs. and you can understand what they are singing, whereas some other types you can't cause they are either screaming the lyrics or saying them so fast you can't tell what they are saying. I grew up on country music but I also listen to other types of music, the only kind I don't care for is rap and classical. I don't know if that helps you understand but that's how i feel about the subject.

how can you bash another genre? just cuz i prefer rock doesn't mean I'm gonna go around calling people rednecks, thats so offensive! All music is expression and everyone has the right to espress that the way they want to, you want people to respect your music right? how do you feel when people call rock "the devil's music" or whatever, gosh man, grow up! This is such a petty question, why can't you just tolerate people, Ozzy said it best man, its not to late to learn how to love and forget how to hate, don't spread you negative energy man!! This really pisses me off!

It's just people's taste. Not everyone is going to agree that rock is the best genre either. People will ask you, why do you like rock music? Everyone has their reasons. Country music isn't for everyone, so why not just leave it alone?

Just like with other genres of music and in all mediums, people write about what they know/experience/want to experience, etc. For country and other artists, writing a song is a form of expression and everybody needs to show how they feel sometimes.

As Trace Adkins says, it is "Songs About Me". Country music is songs about life that you can listen to and understand the words. You don't have to look up the lyrics on some website to know what they are saying.
Why do you like rock?

Why do people like opera, folk, classical, techno, etc etc? Because they have the freedom to have their own opinion about something. We are all different, thank goodness! Why would you want EVERYONE to love a certain type of music? Do you want to be like everyone else? How boring!

i think that its a matter of personal tast. i like country because for the most part it tells a story. i like pop music cause my kids and i love to dance. i like classic rock because it reminds me of my brothers when i was little. that is what they use to listen to, at the time it was just rock, so when i want to take a trip down memory lane i turn that on. like i said, its personal taste i guess.
