When YOU already know the answer, why would you ask the question?

I don't know but I HATE it. I tell people all the time "you already know the answer, why are you asking?" Like when girls ask "should I break up with myboyfriend that beats me?" or "I'm 6 months pregnant. Could I be pregnant?"

dunno, I just answer questions to be a smart*** and pass the time, don't ask any myself

I never know the answer if im asking a question...thats why i ask lol. :) Unless of course im like helping someone study and quizzing them or something. :)

Because you want to see either others view on the subject or your curious as to how much understanding other have of the particular question.

i would ask to see if anyone else has had the same problem, for others opinions, and maybe i could get other information to help solve my problem or an easier way of dealing with watever i may be asking about!

I don't pretend to know everything... my answer could be wrong. So, in doubt, I ask... I like to get others' opinions, ideas, choices, perspectives,... can be interesting at times.

if it is an obvious answer, you might ask to deceptively see if someone is lying. For example.

You know your wife is cheating on you, but you ask,
"Have you been cheating on me?"
She says no.
She is lying
Now you know more than just the answer! You just discovered additional information!
