My GPA is currently 3.9; maintained all A's except for an 89 in Geometry (I'm never going to forget it) and a B for gym but my final average for gym is a 90 (goes to show my school is stupid). Either way my GPA is 3.9 since my school goes A,B,C,D and F; no pluses. I'm going to bring it up to 4.0 in my junior year.

I haven't graduated yet...I'm a Junior and I have a 3.7...and yes you can raise your GPA to a 4.0 or higher but only if your school (like most schools) has a honors or AP (andvance placement) program. Also remember that colleges don't only look for high GPA's but for the dificulty of the classes you are taking (Honors or AP). It's not the same for some one who graduated with a 4.0 by taking regular classes than a person graduating with lets say a 3.7 but taking AP classes. They give more value for the one that got a 3.7 because of the AP even if it's a lower GPA!!!

It was 2.something. I was a pi$$-poor student who saw high school as nothing but the joke that it is! You work hard, bust you a$$, but for what? Otherwise it's going on your 'Permanent Record'!

Those were the ominous words and fear tactic used by my old teachers to motivate me into getting good grades. I still managed to graduate and go on to college. In the latter I was finally able to study subjects that were interesting and not just more 'busy-work' -which is 99% of high school work.

I can honestly say that I have NEVER been asked to diagram a sentence, recite the Gettysburg Address, or compare and contrast the economies of England and France pre and post Industrial Revolution. In other words, they aren't preparing you for anything more than more school!

Make your own destiny and don't worry about an 89! Intelligence is the ability to adapt to your environment, not what grades you get in Geometry! The real question you should ask yourself is: "Am I adaptable?"

Go see the world! I have and I still do! I have taken jobs on four continents, some don't pay monetarily as well as others but the experiences could never have been bought or recited as part of a 10th grade English report.

My high school didn't use a 4.0 scale, but I had an overall A average. And unless your school uses a 4.5 or 5.0 scale to compensate for those taking advanced placement classes, then you're not going to be able to bring your average back up to a 4.0. You can make all "A's" for the rest of high school, but your average will still be slightly below 4.0, i.e. 3.95, etc.

You can't bring it up to 4.0 if you have gotten below that in previous years.
