For a 2004 Suzuki GSX-R600.

This bike has just over 7000 miles on it, and was bought about a week ago with a 2 year warranty on it from a reputed motorcycle dealer.

Basically, I got it home, unloaded it off my truck correctly, and went to start it and take it around for a short ride. The battery was dead. I let a dead battery slide, and figured that somewhere along the line of taking it home, something discharged the battery. I charged it myself with a battery charger, and had it running for a day. Now, it is making a lot of smoke when it runs, and refuses to go into gear. (It shifts, but just stalls going into first, with the clutch in.) Are these symptoms of a greater problem? Is there something I'm missing? I'm pretty good with motorcycles. It IS under a 2 year warranty, but if theres something I'm doing wrong now, I don't want to hitch it back up on my truck and take it to them only to have them tell me I was forgetting to do something on it.

It goes in gear now, just a kick stand cut-off switch. I think the problem is solved.

someting wong with this scoot. haul its dead a-ss back to the dealer. it's now a 3 yr old bike. u might wind up havin a murphy's law trophy with a chitload of problems; 1 of which could be water in the engine or primary oil, or even both. if its a reputable dealer, he wont balk at lookin over the bike. do not do anything to this scoot. since its a 3 yr old ricer, i'd even do some video documentation and bring it with ya to the dealer. if they dont do nuttin to get the bike fixed properly, bust em for shady dealin's.

Sounds like you got a salvage bike from the hurricane damage in the South back in '04 - '05. Take off the seat and look for rust. Have someone check the fork seals to see if they were waterlogged. If the bike has lot's of new looking stuff, you may have been screwed.

cut out switches are fun, not. has the dealer serviced the bike? it may have old oil/fuel from sitting around, and get them to check the charging system to make sure it is ok..better to have these things fixed under warranty than later when you have to pay for every thing your self..

Check the oil level, and if it's okay, then haul it back to their service dept and thank goodness you have the warranty.
