yea most definetly. your body is designed to gain weight while preggo, whereas BMI is a scale of your regular body weight. you shouldnt be concerned with losing weight while pregnant or anything, and the only time BMI matters when with child is what category you fell into prior to becoming pregnant as an indicator what a safe weight gain is for your body type. if you're considered underweight, normal weight gain should be 35-40 lbs. if you're considered average health you should gain 25-35 lbs and if you're overweight it should be between 20-25 lbs. honestly tho, if you're worried about weight gain, DONT BE. i was considered normal range for my height before igot preggo and now, 6 days away from my due date, ive gained almost 40 lbs. everybnody's body is different. only be concerned if your doctor seems worried.

Yes, BMI wasn't made to factor in pregnancy (just height and weight) so it will go up as the baby grows. If you're concerned about your body there are different ways to calculate how much body fat or muscle mass you are carrying; talk to your doctor about this. It's not really the time to worrying about your fat since you need to be building a reasonable amount of maternal fat stores. Just try to eat healthy and enjoy the one time in life you don't need to worry about outgrowing all your clothes.

BMI can be determined by dividing your weight in pounds by your height in inches squared and then multiplying by 705. For example, a woman who is 5'6" and weighs 190 would have a BMI of 31.

Height of 5'6" = 66 inches 66 squared = 4,356 190 divided by 4,356 = 0.0436 0.0436 x 705 = 30.75 (which would be rounded up to a BMI of 31)

Through this figure, if you gain any weight, then common sense dictates that yes in fact it will.

If you are pregnant, you should be more concerned about the health of yourself and your baby than your BMI.

I would think so, but I'm no expert. When I am pregnant, I tend to gain weight in places I never normally gain weight, specifically, by back, which makes me very crabby. I hate back fat.

BMI=Body Mass Index
