I'm getting married October 6, 2007, and want to start dress shopping. I got breast implants in January that didn't come out quite the way I wanted... I'm at a 34E now, when I wanted a 34D. So now I need a dress that will de-emphasize a large chest.

I really like strapless A-line dresses like this:

Can I still wear this style of dress? What is the best style for my figure? (I am 5'8'' and slender, if that helps.)

I too have a large bust-line and I find that V-neck dresses are the most flattering, as long as the plunge is not too deep. There are tons of styles that would be just as elegant as a strapless gown. Also try to steer away from styles with too much embellishment at the top. Go to www.theknot.com and advance search different styles.

You may find yourself pulling a strapless gown up all the time because the weight of your breast may cause the dress to slip, even with the best of alterations. Also consider that when you look down you may feel that you are showing more than you want and cause you to be self-conscious.

My advice is to try on many dresses and find one where you are most comfortable. Best of luck to you, you will be beautiful.

Sorry to say this but the dress that you like would put a lot of emphasis on your breast. I put a website that can sort of help you out when choosing which dress. Try considering something with maybe a v neck line. Do you like this dress:

I'm not sure it was any help but try some things with less detail to the top of the dress but details maybe at the bottom to bring the attention elsewhere. Or have something shear made to wear over a simple strapless dress. Have the shear thing have some sort of design. My mother hade sort of a shirt that was completely shear with the various floral white designs. Good luck!! Hope I was some kind of help to you.

Typically, a higher neckline is recommended. The link below is one example. However, strapless dresses are known to be flattering on nearly every body type. It may not necessarily de-emphasize the chest, but since it has a full skirt it will still look balanced. I would stick with the style you chose. Unless support is an issue, in which case I'd recommend a halter or an off-the-shoulder neckline with thicker straps.

Okay, first of all, that dress is GORGEOUS. I love it.

To take the emphasis off, I would suggest a halter-type top. It may sound informal, but trust me when I say there are beautiful halter wedding gowns.

The bottom half of this is a bit elaborate, but the top, in my opinion, is amazing. It definetely flatters women with the figure you have.

As for strapless, the simpler the top half is, the less attention will be drawn to your chest. This one is quite plain, but the point is that the top is a great shape that doesn't draw too much attention.

Advice: When choosing, DO NOT go with an overly shiny, silky top. It will draw a lot of -- too much -- attention to your chest. Also, sequins can be really enlarging, so if you choose them, don't go with metallic silver, as they are the most enlarging. White sequins would work, though.

Good luck, and CONGRATS!! I'm sure it will go perfectly!

Halter tops are the WORST thing to wear to take emphasis off a large chest. They enhance your chest and draw the eye exactly to where you don't want it. To take the emphasis off wear a strapless make sure the seamstress fits it really well so no one can see straight down your dress. Love the dress you picked out and I think it will look really well with a large chest.
