My wife and I purchased a copper kitchen sink that has no soundproofing. The metal is relatively thick, but we're concerned that the sound of the water running in it and pots banging in it will be magnified by the lack of soundproofing. Any suggestions on how to dampen the sounds?

They sell this stuff in the automotive store in an aerosol can that you spray in your tire wells for sound proofing. It comes out black and rubbery kinda like a bed liner for a truck.

Maybe you could spray that on the underside of your sink. Or perhaps they may make something like that specifically for sinks. Just make sure it won't adversely react with the copper.

If you have any extra insulation for inside your walls you can wrap it around the outside of the sink and tape it up before you drop it into the counter, or you can climb under the sink and try to do it from under there, it is easier if done before installing though. A good tight wrap of insulation and tape will keep the noice down.

Any product that does not reverberate sound would work. Corragated cardboard taped to the bottom would "capture" the echoing sounds. You could also use insulation, which comes in many forms.
