Clouds are composed of minute water droplets and/or ice crystals. Light falling on these droplets is scattered in different directions by reflection and refraction. Some of the light will come back out of the cloud. As the light from the Sun is white light, the clouds appear white when they are in direct sunlight.

If some of the light is being scattered out of the cloud, less light is penetrating the cloud. When you cut the amount of light down, things get darker so away from direct sunlight, clouds are grey. The thicker the cloud, the darker the grey. The base of very deep clouds like cumulonimbus can be almost black.

Clouds with a great depth of supercooled water droplets in them can appear green. This often occurs in cumulonimbus cloud before hail or very heavy rain or snow.

Light is scattered by the atmosphere which causes the blue of the sky. As the Sun gets lower in the sky, more light is scattered and the sky colour moves towards the red end of the spectrum. This change of colour makes the clouds appear yellow, orange or red at sunrise and sunset.

Mostly has to do with what color the light is that is shining on or through them plus some of the light is refracted in the same way the colors are made for a rainbow !

because if the clouds r heavy they r grey and dark mayb a lil blak but when they r light they r white or in a lighter color

We could possible have this event take place in the near future if a massive hurricane comes through the Gulf. Unfortunately it wouldn't be different colored rain drops.

Some of it has to do with the type of cloud they are. I think the temp. also plays a role in it.

I don't think they are, it's simply some are bigger and some are more dense than others, so they reflect light in a different way.
