I can't find the loose end of the thread of a new spool I have found. Please help!

On some spools you can see the pattern and you can follow the outmost thread till where it hides under an other one, in a groove or under a stricker.
If you can not find the end by looking try gently rubbing the thread on the spool, often it comes loose that way.

If all else fails, cut one thread and take the loss as you will not have the outmost end.

On expensive thread like Gutermanns, they don't have a label or a groove, so it will be tucked in at the top of the spool. Just pull around both ends of the spool with your fingernail and you should discover it.

Its normally held down with a plastic film or it terminated in the thread cutting groove on the end of the spool.

It's often found under the sticker on the end. There will also be a slit holding it under there.
