I think it's basketball, just look at the last FIBA tournament, it seems as if the rest of the world has caught up to the USA, not only that, they're beating them regularly. It's all over Europe, South America, Asia, Africa. So what is the sport after soccer??

Team sport- yes its quite obviously basketball.
Overall- football(soccer), tennis, F1 and then basketball
Tennis is the second most popular sport in many countries outside the US after only soccer. And yes, the flaw with the FIBA, US doesn't have enough games with other countries. We put together some superstars and let them play for 2 weeks while other countries play with em quite a bit. As a fan of both sports, its kinda nice. As a Laker fan, I was so happy to see the best player in the world(aka Kobe) go crazy last night. Both sports(basketball and soccer) are incredibly similar. Very fluid fast-paced games with little stoppage of play comparatively to American football which while theres lots of aggressive hits, there are too many stoppages of play for it to gain worldwide acceptance.

I agree with you, basketball. Although it's the most popular sport in very few countries, it's 2nd or 3rd sport of most countries.

Cricket? Definitly not, only former British colonies play cricket. In the rest of the world people don't even know that cricket exist. Here in Brazil I can tell you that at least 80% of the population don't know that there is a sport called cricket. In other countries probably is not much different.

hockey, ICE HOCKEY AND FIELD HOCKEY, its all hockey. think about it. for ice hockey there is USA, CANADA, RUSSIA, those are the big three. but also, it is like religion in finland sweden norway, czech republic, and slovakia. almost all of Europe and North America play it. thats just ice hockey though. there is also field hockey, it is like religion in India and Pakistan and played in most of asia and the usa. so, hockey, field and ice covers the three largest and most populated continents in the world.

Competitive CHEERLEADING is DEFINETLY the best sport ever!!!
Cheerleaders work harder and have a better chance of getting injured over football and soccer. Tale it from me I would know. I've played soccer, basketball softball and cheerleading.

And yes, cheerleading IS a sport!
