I envy you!
I used to be a very, very good rider (I'm older and fatter now) and people used to comment on my riding all the time. But NONE of it came natural to me, I had to work very, very hard to be good. It really surprised people when I told them this, they thought it was all 'natural'!
I think there are several ways you can be a 'natural' rider. One, you can be built for it. Long legs help! Two, you can be just plain talented, like someone who's a good singer. Three, I totally believe that some people just have a natural affinity for animals -- they understand animals without even really trying. Maybe you are this way, so you understand what you need to do to get the best from your horse. And last, you probably are a naturally gentle person.
Have fun with all the riding you will get to do! Riding is so fun and so thrilling...

It is all about balance and posture. If you can sit quietly on a horse it makes a huge difference. It just means you are not clumsy so take the complement and keep riding!

i'm a natural rider, and i get commented on it all the time. you basically just pick things up the better way, you've got the posture, the leg structure, good equitation.
i started riding and in one year i was better than my best friend who had been riding for 6 years, and she's not a natural rider. she has to work for her posture and equitation.

If your healthy fit and balance well, there is no reason not to be naturally good at most beginning sports.Riding takes a calm attitude and visual brain as well. You probably (would) do very well at swimming too! Lean muscle responds better than weight lifter type bulk.

To me a Natural horseback rider is someone who rides without using force and abuse. But communicates with their horse and understands them.

Yes, I am, the first time I rode a real horse I was perfect and the person was amazed when I told them that it was the first time but I'm hesitant to go into a trot.

Good posture and balance and being in good physical shape can make you learn faster than people that have to learn these things as they go along.
