I am having a 50th anniversary party for my parents in December and I am making them a DVD slideshow of pictures throughout their lives. What songs can I put on the DVD? I have no clue where to even start.

I just recently did something similar for a brother for Christmas. What I did was look on the internet to find out the most popular music based on the time period of the photos and video that I used. There is a lot of music out there. What you can also do is present the CD's you used for compilation as a gift along with the DVD. The are many lists out there that you can use. Try this link music charts all over the web: http://www.lanet.lv/misc/charts/

maybe not specific songs, how about artists?
Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Louis Armstrong, Nat King Cole, Billie Holliday, Lena Horne, Peggy Lee. Try some of the big band/swing music.

It's difficult to say not knowing how old they were when they got married, but stuff from the forties, fifties or even sixties, would probably fit the bill. How about "When I'm 64 "by the beatles, or "Unchained Melody" by the Righteous Brothers.
There are CDs around of music from all theses times. Hope this helps.

Remember When the Music by Harry Chapin. With the right pictures there will not be a dry eye in the room.

Through the Years - Kenny Rogers
Because you Loved Me - Celine Dion
Still the One - ( I forget who does that one)

Not that I would be caught dead listening to any of them - but I volunteer at a senior center - and the seniors LOVE those songs!
