I have a 99 Mitsubishi Galant and whenever I drive my car I smell gas on the inside of my car and then whenever I roll my windows down while driving I smell the gas even more. What could possibly be the cause of this and how do I get it fixed??

This something that should be attended to by someone licensed, most likely it has a fuel leak under the hood, possibly an injector or fuel line, the fuel is under a lot of pressure and may spray over the engine as the engine gets hot you can smell the fuel vapors inside and on the outside of car,I would not drive it ti far, does not take much to set vaporized hot fuel on fire.

I just fixed a neon with the same problem and it had started leaking at the fuel filter under the car. was very dangerous but luckily a new filter fixed the issue before anything or anyone got hurt

Probably a leak in your fuel line. Do not ignore this. Easiest would be a cracked fuel filter that you could replace for a few bucks. So, after inspecting the filter, if it is o.k., you will need to take the car to a mechanic.

If I get you correct then you are ref. to burning smell of oil if true then I remember someone saying, if engine oil spills over during service then it slowly burns & one can smell burning of oil.
If it just a normal oil/gas smell then there likely be some leak.

You probably have a gas leak.

Don't smoke in your car.

Take it to get it fixed. You proably need a new gas line or something. It shouldn't be that expensive, unless you need to replace the gas tank.

your car is a fire waiting to happen.

theres a fuel leak somewhere, i would look at the fuel lines near the engine since you smell it while the car is moving

your engine could be not buring all the gas or you might have a leak in your fuel system
