Try the Dr. Seuss story about the star-bellied sneetches. It illustrates the problem of racism, or any form of discrimination, beautifully. Some sneetches are born with a star on their bellies, and they are the upper crust. Those without the star are lesser individuals.
The story gets funny, too. Eventually they figure out how to give people stars on their bellies, and the social system of discrimination breaks down.

The tendancy to berate someone based on their skin color, religious affiliation, size, looks, beliefs etc. ; this practice usually arises out of a fear of the unknown (other culture practices and beliefs) and / or a need to feel superior which is in fact a manifestation of feelings of inferiority.
