I have wider feet and some styles of womens' shoes I want aren't available in wide, so I was wondering if I could buy the mens' version and if they'd be a tad bit wider? My feet aren't that wide, just a little in the toe area.

Yes, men's shoes are wider all over. You can try men's shoes but keep in mind the heels might be too roomy for your heels. You can offset this w/ heel pads or by lacing them tighter.

Generally, a woman's size - 2 = men's size. ex. 8 in Woman's size -2 = 6 in Men's

Actually, in most cases there is a slight difference in OVERALL CUT of the shoe. I run into this with my husband. He can wear a women's sneaker, the EXACT same one as the mens but the womens (larger) size -- but the instep placement is slightly wrong! Drives him crazy (he often can't find the style he wants in his size in mens).

The only way you really are going to be able to tell is to try them on.

Yes they are. Mens sizes are one size larger than a women's. If you take a six women, you would take a 5 in a mens. Basically, you would go a size lower than your shoe size. A mens shoe is a wider shoe unless specified as a narrow shoe or sneaker.

Yes they are. You can see this for yourself if you buy insoles for shoes, there's a pattern for cutting them down and sizing them, it's easy to see the difference.
