To all of you MJ haters who says MJ was a ball-hog then explain this:
1991 NBA Finals MJ averaged 11.4 ASSIST PER GAME! Ball-hogs won't ditch out that many assist in a entire series.

Michael Jordan holds the Chicago Bulls franchise record for most total career ASSIST. Ball-hogs doesn't hold franchise career assist records.

Anyone that is a GREAT SCORER that works hard on defense earns the RIGHT TO SHOOT! Example: If you work hard all week, your bills are caught up, and everything that's important is taken care of, you earned the right to go party and spend money on your days-off, right? Well the same go for basketball, if you work hard on DEFENSE and you're a good offensive player you should be able to shoot. Especially when your offense isn't hurting the team. Check this out:
1988 Defensive Player of the Year
3 Steal titles
9X ALL-NBA 1st Defensive Team
1988 He averaged 3.16 spg & 1.60 bpg:
He worked hard on defense, that right there gave him the right to shoot.

MJ got 6 titles & led his team to a 72-10 record (best record in history). Ball-hogs hurt there team. 6 titles & a 72-10 record isn't hurting your team. So how was he a BALL-HOG?

Phashant,
you can't make the same debate for Kobe...Tell me when was the last time Kobe averaged over 10 assist in a series, got GREAT defensive stats, & a franchise assist record?

LMAO!....Everyone needs to read Alpha Wolfs answer! I want you guys to see how much of a moron he is. He's talking about things that have nothing to do with being a ball-hog...lol

Alpha,
why do you skip the 91 finals. Do ball-hogs ditch out 11.4 apg?

don't consider anyone, especially a guard, a ballhog if they shoot 50% for their career like Jordan.

Jordan was a good passer who briefly played some point guard in the late 80's but as a shooting guard his job was to shoot and score and he did that job very well.

He started out with a little more relaxed shot selection but by his prime he had a very deadly idea of what he could and could not do and everytime he had the ball opponenets were scared.

Ball hogs IMO are the ones who hold onto the ball when teamates are open, try to take on multiple defenders, and shoot a poor average because of their shot choices.

Ball hog? no. Ball Hogs cannot lead their team to 6 titles.

And it sounds like alpha is a Knicks or Pacers fan and is pissed off cuz the Bulls with MJ knocked his out of the playoffs year after year. Or maybe he's just a fan of 1 of the other many teams the Bulls beat in 90s.

Yeah.......why'd you play me 'JD?????

I already gave you your proof. You just don't want to face it.

It's O.K that MJ was a ball-hog. He was still a great player, just selfish. I'm not knocking him at all.

Just don't think for one moment that Jordan tried to make his teammates better, because he didn't. He looked for his own shot first, and if he was double or triple-teamed and was FORCED to pass he did. That's where he got his assists.

Think back to 1989, the year he played point. He only averaged 8 apg. That's not that great for a point guard. Magic was always in double digits in assists.

Just for kicks, here's MJ working hard on defense.....

Great points, he is not a ball hog. I agree with your posts and reasoning. Not sure who would say he is a ballhog. The guy had the perfect balance of knowing when to pass and knowing when to take over a game.

When he first entered the league he was a ball hog. From 1984-1889 he was the biggest ball hog ever. Then in the 90s he started passing.

If he was the perfect team player, how come he never led the league in assists????

I know thats a dumb logic because he is a shooting guard and his primary job is to score

Dumb arguments like I made above is what you use to criticize Kobe...

Michael Jordan was not a ball hog. Otherwise, he would have been disqualified. Listening to the media and their opinions are very foolish. It goes to show that they don't know about basketball.

mj averaged 22.5 shots per game in his carear, including the years with the wiz, so in his prime he was jacking up around 25 per game. if i was his coach, i woulda had him shoot more!
