Is a rat called a mouse when it is young or are a mouse and a rat two different things?

The answer is that a mouse and a rat are two different things.
The mouse are smaller, less vicious/dangerous than a rat, and tend to have a higher reproductive rate when comparing to a rat.

A mouse is very small, usually their bodies are not much bigger than 1-1/2 inches (Minus the tail). Rats are much bigger, at about 5" long (minus the tail) and have a longer, thicker tail. Some rats in the world grow much bigger than this. Even a baby rat is bigger than an adult mouse. A mouse's ears are also larger in proportion to the head than a rat's.

Two different things, from the same genus family. (i think it's the genus catagory.) They are both rodents.
