The arrest thing is funny, but actually its the fault of the organizers, I mean they should have informed Richard Gere that indian state got a law against public kiss so don't try it out on stage! Its not bad to respect laws, but this arrest thing is ridiculous. As far as Muslim thing is concerned, well one of the lady probably mentioned Afghanistan! Most of the women in Pakistan and Middle East do wear scarves but are welcomed on stage with respect (of course without kiss part, I mean is it essential to kiss on stage because westerners do? everybody got their own cultural values)! laws should be respected (as far as its not hurting anyone) but having arrest warrant is no doubt silliness!
Just one request to everyone, learn and respect cultural values.

Pretty Ridiculous. Im 4m India. Dont be fooled into thinking that their act 'hurt the sentiments of the Indian ppl'. If you actually watch the video closely, you'll see the ppl gathered there actually cheering him on.
The arrests are only a part of a strategy by unscrupulous political parties to show their strength.
In urban India (where the incident occured), our culture is quite accomodating. Jus wanted to clear that up!

I agree it is pathetic!!! not only the Indian culture, what about the Muslim culture where the women have to cover themselves so the men are not tempted?? sounds like they should be sorting the men out if they can't control themselves.
I loved Shilpa and Richard and there was nothing remotely wrong with him kissing her, big deal no one got hurt?

I'm from there(culture wise) and i also think it's stupid. i laughed when i heard about it, but different people have different ways.
