But what helps you to decide, and vote for who you want? Because I am confused on the candidates. I like universal healthcare. But I like some of the Republicans view on the environment. Also the Republicans view on the Iraq war; I like. Thanks for any input.

I like Rudy actually. I was reading something about him. The one thing though I couldn't find any stands he has on environment.

You have to ask yourself, "overall, who has the best ideas to move this nation forward?". Look at all the issues you think are important for America, and then determine which candidate offers the best solutions for those issues. I believe that the Democrats, Hillary in particular, has the best ideas on Health Care, the economy, etc. I also believe that the Republicans have taken us in to an unnecessary war, given us the biggest deficit in history, and are allowing too many jobs to go over seas. But you must decide which candidate offers the best solutions to the most important issues YOU think are critical. It is not easy, and the campaign trail has just started, so hopefully more details about how the candidates stand on certain issues will be forthcoming. Good Luck.

Well thumbs up to you for thinking for yourself.

I would look up their web sites. you will see there what they claim to support. Then , if they are an experienced politician do some searches for voting records, or statements they have made.

When the Election comes near ( remember its not until November of next year so more than a year and a half still )
you should be able to pick up a pamphlet or small magazine with a candidate listing. I usually get them in the mail. It will list each person running for their position and their platform and experience. Its nice for a quick reference.

Like you said, we have a year or so. The primaries are 7-13 months away depending on where you live. The general election is 18 months away. Between now & then, there will be plenty of information disseminated to help us decide. The hard part will be wading through all the trash to get the truth.

Glad to hear you like what you hear from the Republican view. To get a good feel for the candidates see what they say on substantive issues. They can pontificate all they want but make sure they are not just a suit with a microphone. Go Rudy!
