MY OPINION IS THAT I PODS SHOULD BE NOT ALLOWED IN SCHOOLS AND
THE CELL PHONES SHOULD BE ALLOWED UNDER SOME CONDITIONS SUCH AS TURNING-OFF THEM WHILE LECTURES GO ON .ETC.... ANYWAY, CELL PHONE IS A COMMUNICATION DEVICE SO I SHOULD BE ALLOWED UNDER ABOVE CONDITIONS IN SCHOOLS.

I don't. People functioned without cell phones and ipods for many years. Astonishing I know. They're annoying, disruptive, and disrespectful (esp. cell phones). And I'm not just referring to students in middle and high school. I took a class at a community college last summer and these three russian ladies would sit in the back of the classroom, with their cellphones set to "nuclear explosion." Every class, at least one of them would ring, all 3 of the women would look confused, like it couldn't possibly be their phone. Eventually someone would get irritated and tell them to turn it off, to which they would respond 'oh, that's me?' and laugh. Then, they would proceed to actually *answer* their phone and have a loud conversation! Truly, whatever happened to manners? I expect more, both from 14 yr. olds and 40 yr. olds.

No, no and no! Have you ever taught a class with kids listening to iPods? They learn nothing because they are more focused on the music they're listening to. They are the ones who ask you to repeat the whole lesson in 5 minutes so they can do their homework.

Kids go to school to learn. iPods are for anywhere but the classroom, and cellphones are for people on the go. Students are definitely out on both counts. They are against the school code where I work, but kids bring them anyway. I take the iPods till the end of class, and cellphones are removed from the student and deposited at the office. I give the iPods back at the end of the day, and the cellphone becomes the decision of the principal.

No way. The schools have phones to communicate if it's neccessary. I work in a high school, and I find myself confiscating cellphones and ipods on a daily basis because these chlidren refuse to follow the rules (cell phones and ipods are to be off and out of sight until after school hours).

When I was in school, there were no such things as cellphones and ipods. If we needed to communicate that bad, we used the school phone, and even then, there were restrictions regarding use of school phones. We had to be ill , and back then, the school employees called our parents for us.

These devices of today are fine, but not for use in school. They interfere with the reason these children need to be in school- LEARNING ONLY.

No, school is for learning, not calling people or listening to music. There was an article in the news today about kids now using ipods to cheat on tests. They have been using cell phones to cheat for a while.

No. They are distracting and cell phones can be used to cheat. I think that kids should leave their cell phones in their cars or have them turned off during the day if they have to take it to call someone for a ride after school.

Cellphones, in particular, are a major issue. From a safety concern, they are a tremendous liability. If there is a security situation, schools are supposed to secure the premises and control all outside communication.

At several schools, routine and semi-routine lockdowns were made to be front-page news because kids were calling parents and others outside the school with misinformation, causing riots from parents who wanted their kids out.

As a result, not only are cellphones banned, but in the event of a lockdown, they are to confiscated by school staff.

No. But i think cell phones should not be prohibited in school for emergency reasons. But I dont really see a real need for ipods.

NO! ! !They should be BANNED from school property ENTIRELY during class hours!
Above and beyond the fact that BOTH devices have been linked to CHEATING uses, students are in school to get an education, NOT to chat or text on phones or walk around with IPod earbuds stuck in their ears! ! ! !

I feel that all electronics should be banned from school. Many of the classmates had their electronics stolen during school hours. That is why I keep ALL OF MY ELECTRONICS AT HOME!! School is for Education not a Party!
