Yes, it is possible for there to be "lack of conflict". That is not to imply that there will be peace. Have the entire class line up politely and in an orderly fashion and turn your lunch money over to the bully and there will be no conflict. Or, we can do as the US has always done and stand up to the world's bullies so that we can have Peace, but the cost of having Peace is military conflict.
Even on the playground, (an I was a small kid with thick glasses) I chose peace with conflict - actually, once you stand up to a bully, you don't have to fight too much. It's when the bully thinks he's got you scared that you have to fight more (that happens if you're making gestures that say you just might be ready to surrender.....)

For the Jews and Christians, in the beginning after the expulsion of Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden they had two sons, Cain and Able and Cain killed Able...now in the Islamic World the Sunnis, Shiites and Kurds are killing each other and they all want to do away with the infidels (that's us non-Islamic folks). There has been conflict since the beginning of the human race over every possible difference, Protestants and Catholics, Capitalists and Communists, Democracies and Tyrannical Dictatorships or just wanted a little larger country to call our own. I've heard of over simplification but the question of can't we all just get along would have to answered with an equally simplified, no.

Wars have been going on for a long time. Just because you want to get along doesn't mean someone else does. There are good people who want peace in the world and then there are people who are full of hate and violence. If we just sit back and let haters come into our country and blow us up, then peace will never prevail. We can't always be on the defense either, we need to nip it in the butt early on before it get's out of hand.

Genesis 6:5 in the bible tells us.
5 - And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imaginations of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
6 - And it repented the LORD that he had made man, and it grieved him in His heart.
When Adam and Eve disobeyed God, they brought sin into the world. Sin separates us from God. The only way to salvation is to believe in Jesus Christ.
Some of us may be saying right now, well I'm a good person so God should take that into consideration.
Now ask yourself these questions.
Have you have ever lied? Then you are a liar.
Have you ever stole anything? Then you are a thief.
Have you ever hated anyone? Then you are a murder according to the bible.
You see, were all evil wicked sinful creatures. Yes - even myself. Unless we compare ourselves to Jesus, then we will never our own sinful nature.

No, we cannot all just get along. Cultures come into conflict. People form grudges. Bad Things (tm) happen.
Warm fuzzy questions won't change any of that. Just be thankful you live in a part of the world where you can drift through life asking questions like that without being snatched up by secret police and tortured.
