Is it ok to have sex after you have lost your mucous plug? I know it was there to keep infection and bacteria out. So can we still do this? I'm 38 weeks, had a membrane stripping yesterday to help progress labor and avoid preeclampsia and induction. We were going to be using sex as a tool (how romantic is that?!) to help labor start but since that fell out his morning I'm not so sure.

I was told that you can have sex up until your water breaks. I only saw my plug with my first pregnancy and I had sex up until the day before I delivered with my other 2 pregnancies

It should be OK, I heard that you can have sex until your water breaks. I think that it would be a great way to star jump your labor since there is nothing in your way. I also heard that semen help too so I would use a condom.

Thats the absolute best time to try and use sex to induce labor! Nothing blocking the way, and contrary to popular belief, will not cause infection, its a natural way to get things jumped started..unlike castor oil..whatever you do dont use that!

No way, don't do it. You lost your mucus plug and had your membranes stripped. It's anytime now. You may break your water while you are having sex. I do believe you can get an infection though. Your baby will be here soon enough.

Hmmm...most of the time I hear you can have sex until your water breaks, and going by that, if your water hasn't broken you're fine. But I'd really ask a doctor when something so important is at risk.

By all means do! It won't hurt and all the prostoglandins in the semen will help your cervix get ready for labor. Plus it is just fun!

You are immune to whatever germs come with having sex...You have been doing it long enough with the same person, your body is immune... Just be careful and maybe take showers first.

I wouldn't suggest it the musous is part of what helps protect your baby. I would call your doctor too he might have some advise
