This is what I remember, it was really quiet and just one person singing for a while, then it transitioned into a louder part with guitars and drums... I remembered some words this morning, but they're gone now, I'll update if I do remember, but any help would be awesome.

well, one, I'm sorry I can't provide more details, I really wish I could, so don't leave me answers like that. So I listened to Crossfade's"Colors", its not that one, its not Hinder, not Maroon 5... keep leaving suggestions, that could spark something, who knows...

Hey there.
If you are sure its Green Day, then the songs that start with vocals are(the ones played on mainstream radio)

Letterbomb- A girl, who sounds verrrryyy young singing-Nobody Likes You..tHEY'RE All out with out you having fun... THen guitars and drums come.. and goes - "Where have all the bastards gone..."

Then theres U2 and GreenDays"Saints are coming"
"There is a house in New Orleans, they call the rising sun.
Its been a home to many a poor boys and god i know im one... Then everything comes in.
Hope that helped!

That is the vaguest description ever. First off so many bands are compared to Green Day these says, that would be impossible to recognize. Does it sound like them for vocals, instruments, style what? And second off a soft to loud transition, that could be anyone. You're crazy. Ask that kind of question when you get a clue.

green day - letter bomb maybe?

Nobody likes you...
Everyone left you...
They're all out without you...
Having fun...

Where have all the bastards gone?
The underbelly's accidental high
The dummy failed the crash test
Collecting unemployment checks
You're ******* only along for the ride

Where have all the riots gone?
As your city's model gets pulverized
What's in love is now in debt
On your birth certificate
So strike the ******* match to light this fuse

The television's an obstructionist
And you don't even know that you exist
Stand still wish to die
You better run for your ******* life

It's not over 'till your underground
It's not hope before it's too late
It's cities burnin'
It's not my burden
It's not hope before it's too late

There's nothing left to analyze

Where will all the martyrs go when the virus cures itself?
And where will we all go when it's too late?

And don't look back

You're not the Jesus of Suburbia
The St. Jimmy's opinion of
Your father's raise and your mother's love
That's made the idiot America

It's not over 'till your underground
It's not hope before it's too late
It's cities burnin'
It's not my burden
It's not hope before it's too late

She said I can't take this place
I'm leaving it behind

Well she said I can't take this town
I'm leaving you tonight

From that description it kind of sounds like Crossfade's "Colors"

Solo (one guitar, one singer):
Can you feel it crush you does it seem to bring the worst in you out // There's no running away from these things that hold you down // Do they compicate you because they make you feel like this // of all the colors that you've shine this is surely not your best // But you should know these colors that you're shining are

Full band, Full singers:
(chorus)
Surely not the best colors that you shine

If it sounds like Greenday, and it truly is on the Radio, i pass to wager the two Foo fighters, or The Offspring. the two those bands are Greenday ish. and are many times performed on the radio.

It could be The Killers' "Read My Mind". Kinda sounds like it could be a Green Day type song.
