I always thought that the point was that the crow knocking the snow on him like that, made him laugh at himself.

The author was having a bad day, but then a crow in a tree knocked down some snow on him/her, kind of a surprise, and cheered him/her up.

i always thought that the crow shaking the snow on robert frost woke him up a little, and made him appreciate life rather than rueing the day.

it means that if you're in a bad mood you need to stop and smell the roses. look at the little things you normally take for granted and you'll have a better day for it.
