I'M SAVING LIVES FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!! this is my job! if i don't do it who will??? does a cop make arrests to pass the time? does a brain surgeon cut open a head to pass the time ? NOOO i think not!! i am not different my friend!

My personal goal on here is to pass the time by helping others. Some people have very serious questions in which the answers can make an astonishing difference in their lives. As far as saving lives is concerned, I don't know about that. I suppose it's possible. Some people write about feeling depressed or hopeless. Well, if they have suicidal thoughts and we cheer them up, maybe we have helped saved lives. Some questions are about medical problems...perhaps we can save lives by encouraging people to get to a doctor quickly enough...before it's too late.
No doubt everyone on here is passing the time, whether that is their goal or not. As a teacher, I can't resist answering the question about saving lives with a phrase I here from children all the time....
"Maybe.........Maybe not!"

We're all pretty much just passing the time. Although at times you are really helping somebody out who might actually be feeling depressed with a kind word or two.

Some save lives. I, along with other people on here prevented two girls from having abortions. They both emailed me and probably the other respondants as well and thanked us and they didnt realize what they were about to do and have decided to keep their babies. One girl (14, I think) talked to her parents and they have agreed to help her raise her baby. Depending on the questions asked, and the ansers given I think sometimes we do save lives or fix a piece of them.

We're definitely saving lives here.
Just think of all the poor souls that would be jumping from basement windows if it wasn't for P&S.

I would not be so presumptous to think we actually SAVE lives, but I'm sure we generate more thought than if this venue did not exist.
