Once was you could tell me, OK if you don't want to hear gossip about stars, don't watch Joan Rivers or watch tabloid TV or read the magazines. All well and good, THEN!!! NOW:
Local news, national news, talk radio, sports radio, the newspaper, magazines once dedicated to "real news". You cannot avoid hearing about or seeing something about Hollywood on a daily basis. I find it offensive. Why? Because the majority of Hollywood is fake and phony and the stars know nothing about life, are miserable most of the time in their relationships, have no real talent to speak of and contribute nothing to society whatsoever. So why do so many people care about them? (Especially what they wear to the oscars.... Gag! Puke! Grow up, little girls, you're 16!)

Did you read my question details? Don't "watch it"? All well and good. But it finds you. It is everywhere. The only way you could go one day without hearing or about Hollywood would be to live in the woods with no radio or TV.

It's funny how the "stars" I like manage to stay out of the tabloids.

I'm pretty sick of these pampered babies who have no concept of real life telling me what to care about and who to vote for.

I agree! Hollywood is nothing but big, fake phonies who want the wrong attention. Think about it.The stars are regular people, that do regular things, but they're always followed around with cameras, and they aren't really that good. Now, if you see the guy across the street picking his nose, or a wedgie, no one is going to be around him filming every secound of the day.
I also agree that the stars know nothing about life, and they are miserable most of the time in their relationships, have no real talent to speak of and contribute nothing to society whatsoever. So why do so many people care about them? Because it gives them a chance to think "Oh wow! I want to be PAris Hilton when I grow up!" Or, Brad Pitt.
Weel, I've got news for those peoplpe..

THE STARS ARE FAKE! AND YOU WILL NEVER, IN YOUR ENTIRE LIFETIME, BE LIKE THEM, AND FOR THAT MATTER, LET ME TELL THE STAR"S SOMETHING:

YOU ARE ALL BIG, FAKE, PHONIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You are right, and I think it is worse in California where I live.
Actually, I think many of the stars have great acting talent and I enjoy seeing their work. This doesn't mean they have any clue about anything outside their profession. I'd rather take advice from an engineer or a nurse.
I really don't understand why people find the lives of the stars very interesting. The artistic life has its place, but it isn't conducive to common sense. They need us more than we need them, to keep the world going.

One event stands out in my mind when I read your question and it is quite disturbing to me:
Nobody was being taught about AIDS until Rock Hudson the famous actor died from it. All of a sudden AIDS AWARENESS and EDUCATION started. Before that, everyone was afraid to ask any questions..it was a hush hush word.
So why do we have to wait for HOLLYWOOD to break down the ice?

Other than Ophrah Winfrey, I am not too fond of anybody from Hollywood.

It's all about the mainstream media spewing this "celebrity worship" crap on us. They hope that we'll consume this stuff by buying tabloids, magazines, and tuning into the Entertainment Tonight stuff on TV.

The media wants us to believe that the actors and celebrities are the most important people on Earth - they're God's gift to humanity. And in reality their contribution to society is to get you or me to turn on our televisions and buy the products advertised on their shows.

I think a lot of it is because society sucks :). Everyone is depressed and has all these issues and hollywood stars seem perfect so we have to pick on them and follow their lives to make us feel better about our own pathetic ones :)

Because we beg for every detail of their lives, especially the bad. I think we all need a life.
