Okay so in school we're making a rocket..and the top is cone shaped but someone told me that's not good..so i was wondering
do you guys know what the best shape for the top of the rocket is?..so it goes higher?

Yes, it's called a "noise cone", and some rockets do have true conical cones (with a triangular cross section). But the optimal shape air flow wise is not exactly a cone since that would cause a discontinuous slope where it joins the rest of the rocket. The best cone comes to a conical tip, but the sides curves down until it blends smoothly with the cylindrical length of the rocket. The air flow that way is more laminar, resulting in less drag. I have built model rockets for years and everyone of them has a top that is cone-shaped, called a nose cone. Just make it cone shaped and if you put the rest of it together correctly, it should fly just fine!

Jet airplanes have cone shaped noses, Space crafts have cone shaped noses, professional rocket builders make their noses cone shaped. Your friend is screwing with you.
