It depends how your body deals with sugar. I can't handle too much or I'll get a yeast infection. It's always best to eat natural sugars like honey and fruit, sugar is evil :)

I ate soooo much sweet stuff when I was pregnant that I thought she was come out hard boiled!! Joking aside she was/is fine and never had any skin problems apart from dry skin and that was because I was overdue... Obviously try not to overdo it ( as I'm sure everyone has said, yawn!! ) but within reason it's fine, counterbalance it with fruit as this gives you the sweetness you crave believe it or not and is much healthier for baby and you....
P.S I also heard that eating chocolate is good for baby so go for it!! I did... I have read one of the other answers you had that what you eat has an effect on the baby's eating habits but my little girl eats tons of fruit and veg and will always chose carrots over chips, peppers over sweets and has the healthiest diet of anyone I know ( just wish I could copy, I'd be stick thin) so relax and don't take anyones advice tooseriously, it is only advice.....

Well, my sister has a 6 year old and she ate a TON of sweet fruit when she was pregnant but now her daughter has really bad teeth! She never put her to bed with a bottle and she always brushed her teeth daily. The doctor AND dentist said it could have been because she ate too much sugar when she was pregnant. I'm not sure how true it is since there are not studys done, but I would go with your instincts. Eat what your body wants in moderation!! Don't gain too much weight, that could be horrible!

I ate tons of chocolate and sweet stuff, and i have a very happy baby. I dont know if thats why, but everyone tells me i'm blessed to have such a happy and good baby.
I would suggest not eating that stuff anymore, because i cant shake all the weight i've gained from it :( its an overwhelming battle when you have so much to lose.

None of that is true.
However...you will gain a lot more weight if you do not limit your sugar in take. As you get more and more pregnant, the demand on your body for insulin goes up---up to three times more insulin is needed to use the same amount of sugar. Don't stress your body out by pushing it too far.
Secondly, if you are craving sugary things, you are likley not getting enough protein or could be addicted to sugar (serious).

Well... I can debunk both. With my first son I ate tons of sugar and chocolate. He was the happiest baby ever and has had no skin problems for 3 and half years. My youngest son, I ate chocolate often as well, and he had collic for 14 months straight... all he ever did was cry... so the chocolate didnt seem to help him any. Eat chocolate, enjoy it, just remember all things in moderation. Good luck!

I don't know what effect it has on the baby but I know I had a massive craving for sugary stuff. But try and eat in moderation or you'll just get really down about your weight after having the baby.

Theres scientific evidence that fetus'es and babies, develop tastes for food based on what the pregnant and breastfeeding mom eats. I think theres even new stuff basing health and of the baby on it also, but not the skin thing.
Now the chocolate things a given.

I don;t know about that, but I know that a lot of people develop gestational diabetes during pregnancy. Also If you are pregnant just try your best to put a lot of good stuff into your body. Remember you are helping develop your baby.

The chocolate thing is a joke! I ate chocolate the entire time I was pregnant with my first. She had colic and was a very fussy baby! I wish that one was true!
