Do Pink gills mean a tropical fish is healthy?

They should be red or rather dark pink. If they are very light then the fish is not as healthy as it could be. Far more information would be needed to help you pin down the cause if this is the case.

dark pink or red means the fish is getting an excellent amount of oxygen

Good question but I just looked at my fish and I'm pretty sure it depends on what color the fish are cause all of mine are different colors!
