October Road, Grays Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, Brothers and Sisters...they all seem to have a subplot that is based on a main character suddenly discovering that they're in love with two people simultaneously. What's up with that?

yes or the sheep that watch the shows would start to have individual thoughts. So the fcc implemented the klone rule, where every tv sahow has to be the same. keeps viewers happy, advertisers happy and makes it easier for neilson to adjust the ratings for commercials watched.

You can say that about almost any show and Grey's Anatomy has many subplots going on right now. The Izzie, George, Callie triangle, the race for the new Chief, whether or not George will transfer, Dr. Montgomery's fate at Seattle Grace, Meredith and Dr. Mc'Dreamy being able to survive the fact that Meredith did not try to swim when she drowned and whether they can be together if he becomes Chief. The plot developments go on and on. It's not like Desperate Housewives where they recycle their own plots over and over again.

well....it isn't so much that they are required to have the same subplots in every show. It is more like there are only so many writers, with so many plot paths. Did you know there are really only 67 different plots for ANY story ever? So there is nothing new under the sun first of all. Second, there are only so many writers writing these plots, and they are going to repeat successful plots. They know what keeps people's interest in a story and they continue to use those plots over and over again. When people stop watching and get bored, they have to turn to new plots. Even then, there are only a limited amount to write. Writers do tweak them into something that sounds a bit newer sometimes, but basically it is all the same stuff.

heh I would have to blame the SAME/Like minded writers..writing for both shows.....If the writers are differnet then thier bosses require the same thing...or mebbe even the hiring team found/created ?clones?.....

Most of the ?dramas? have really gone "Silly" lately....

Or they go with a reality show...."Silly"....

.....I would say go curl up with a good book.....

But you can only reread the old stuff so many times....

sigh.
