We can wear strappy sandals that show pretty much the entire foot, we can wear thong-style shoes as long as they have a heel. Not to mention that the tradition "flip flop" has evolved into something that some stores sell for upwards of $80... so why are they still not allowed in offices??

some offices allow flip flops if they are nice ones; the thing is that offices have to set rules because some people don't know how to dress reasonably for work. if you say it's ok to wear flip flops, next thing you've got folks wearing some really gnarly ones, and lets face it, a lot of folks feet aren't that pretty--and sandals and even thong shoes do look nicer than flip flops. the idea of flip flops is they are for the beach or the pool, not work. you've got plenty of other options so why sweat it?

The name it self gives an indication of the answer
Flip-Flop Flip-Flop Flip-Flop Flip-Flop Flip-Flop
a little annoying in a working environment a person wearing them really doesn't hear the sound or recognize how loud it really is

The office place is not the place for a flip flop, flip flops are beach attire. and should remain there. You don't wear your bathing suit with a cover-up to the office now do you?

They dont look professional and for liability reason. When wearing flip flop you are more like to have a fot injury than the other shoes named above. If anything drop on your foot you will not be protected.

They just aren't professional looking, business attire has become something completely different than what it once was. I was reading an article and our generation is making business casual into completely casual and laid back. Flip flops were made for the beach.....
