After reading the very first answer, I realize more explanation is needed.

The article is comparing CONSERVATIVES to LIBERALS. It is NOT comparing REPUBLICANS to DEMOCRATS.

It is quite obvious that conservatives have better viewpoints on several things, but they also have downfalls. The writer of this article is obviously a conservative and has a biased opinion. Conservatives are also war monging, money sucking, greedy, and geared towards promoting big business over the little man. Now in a lot of ways conservatives are good especially when it comes to core values. However, liberals monitor the juggernauts that try to suck the American people dry through over priced subsidies like the gas prices today. John F. Kennedy would have capped the prices a long time ago, but Bush gets money to line his pockets from it which was primarily the reason he invaded Iraq. Conservatism is genuinely the best way to go, but the ones who are representing it have cheated. lied, and stolen from the American peope for long enough.

Oh Please. I can sum up the point of the article in one sentence: Liberals are unpatriotic, sinful, unchristian, scoundrels out to destroy America and take away all of your rights whereas Conservatives are pure, right thinking Christians trying to save America from Liberals.

It does not occur to the author of that article that the ideology he calls liberal in the most perjorative way possible is actually an ideology that is about being a compassionate human being out to ensure fairness, social justice, and protection of the minority against the tryrany of the majority. It's the very foundation of our nation. What could be more patriotic?

Activists Judges - Judges can't shop for cases and all of their opinions are subject to review. So there really is no such thing. To a conservative an activist judge is any judge with an opinion different than his.

Guns - There are 30,000 gun deaths in this country every year (half suicide, half murders). Gun control is only about keeping guns out of the hands of criminals, crazy people, drunks, and idiots. We don't allow people to drive without a licesnes and when they've proven themselves dangerous we take it away.

Discrimination: 60 years ago the conservative fought to preserve white supremecy they had so closely gaurded with 200 years of opression. Now they begrudge the paltry things we try to do to undo that damage. Reverse discrminiaiton is wrong, but its hyporcitical for right wingers to call themselves colorblind


Wealth - Liberals simply believe it is a matter of social justice that those with more resources should provide more for the common good than those with little or no resources. Liberals like to keep their wealth too, but recognise that spending money collectively to address poverty, education and disease helps everyone. It's not that liberals do not respect achivers, its that they respect the downtrodden equally. I think Jesus said something about this.

Abortion: What you call inconvenience of the mother, the liberal might call the life, health, and self determination of the mother. This is a tough one, but no one is defending abortion as a means of birth control for the careless. Yes even liberals want to reduce abortions, by stopping unplanned, unwanted pregnancy, not by putting doctors and mothers in jail.

Terrorism: Liberals what to fight actual terrorism, not powerless fascists that pose us no threat. Fighting terrorism is of course a matter of security first, but that just keeps the bad guys out. Fighting terrorism is really about eliminating the causes. Not an easy undertaking when it requires knowing and understanding your enemy. But its what liberals would do.

Government: Heavy sigh, would only we had the size and cost of the government when the last liberal was in the Whitehouse.

Governing Least: If true libertarian conservatives had held sway for the last 50 years we would have water unfit to drink, air unfit to breathe, food unfit to eat, cars unsafe to drive, medicine unsafe to ingest, 200 million hacking coughing, dieing,nicotine addicted smokers, and under funded police, fire, transportation initiaitives. We would have generations of lost, uneducated, unemployable masses becasue schools would have been privatized. It is interesting that today's conservatives seem to want government out of the boardroom but demand it in the bedroom. Lets not regulate dangerous industries but lets make sure that some people who love one another can't get married - becasue that will surely destroy your family.

US Supremecy. Liberals know that we are the greatest, most powerful nation on earth. They also know that conducting ourselves in the global sandbox with a measure of humility goes a lot further that hubris, arrogance, belicose nationalism.

God & Christainity. Liberals are not hostile to Christianity. in fact, just like the country, most Liberals are Christians. But liberals are hostile to assaults on freedoms and protections in the constitution. So when public officials want you to honor thier sabbath instead of yours, Pray to their God instead of yours (or insist that you pray at all), or spend public money promoting their religion instead of yours, they go to bat for you.

Policies that work. Bottom line: Conservatives are about the status quo or turning back the clock. Liberals are about addressing the problems in society. Not every program works, but its scandalous not to try when we have so much to work with and so many problems and injustices to correct.

I don't. That man has obviously never sat down and talked to a liberal, or he would know his assumptions are false. just more propaganda......you guys have lots of it, but nobody's buying after the last six years.
