I would say that you should back out of the spanking unless she's intentionally doing something that's affecting her schoolwork. If she isn't doing well, there's many other reasons than her being a bad kid. She may have visual or hearing problems, or even a learning disability. Spanking her won't help these, and will only make her withdraw into herself. Spanking won't make an ideal student, but love and understanding will.
Also, ask yourself if YOU'VE done everything that you could to help your daughter to excel. Have you sat down and helped her figure out her math homework? Did you make time to discuss her assignments, so you know where she's doing well and where she needs work? A spanking also isn't a substitute for parenting. If her homework is too difficult for you to help her with, then maybe SHE isn't the one that needs to be spanked.

I would have to go with carrying out what you promised. You can obviously just give a few swats and explain why you are doing it.
Kids learn quickly that if you say one thing and then don't carry through with it, that they can get away with things.
My sis-in-law used to always threaten with a spanking and not do it..so I told her to not threaten if you don't intend to do it at all.
Next time just say something like "You will be in trouble if you get a bad report card and I think it's because you have not been trying"...and then you can deal with the punishment aspect at the time.

NEVER break a promise. Of course, it isn't like you have to go insane on the spanking. But, keep your word, it matters more than you will ever know.

if u really dont feel as if she was not trying 2 get good grades then you spank her but if you feel she tried then just take something away dat she likes until she pulls da grades up
