I don't mind the compatibility questions - it's far more preferable to read those than the "Do you really believe in this crap?" nonsense. Like anyone will stand up and say, "Oh yeah, you're totally right!" and stop believing in astrology based on a few ignorant comments made on the internet.
Even worse are the religious ones who preach about turning to God and putting your life in his hands. Well thanks for your input, but really, whatever. For all you know, i think your god is as phony as you consider my astrology, so let's all agree to disagree and move on, shall we? I won't come over to your religion boards preaching astrology, and you can stop coming over here and preaching your religion, okay?
Unfortunately, I've found that being respectful of other people's belief systems doesn't work out so well for the overly religious folks.

A lot of people don't like to be labeled. They don't like to believe that their personality can be explained. Everyone thinks they're complex. Which is true, everyone's personality is unique and complex. I think they just don't want to be understood. Maybe it's all they have.
Some people are very logical. Therefore, they refuse to believe that the stars are anything more than giant balls of burning gas.
Others are insecure about their own beliefs, so, they attack something that other's believe in to make themselves feel more secure.
And the biggest one of all. Ignorance. Astrology is a bit odd, and mankind is famous for ignoring things that aren't entirely realistic. Most of these people that come on and rant about how stupid it is and how dumb people are for believing in it, actually know very little about astrology. Most of them have no idea that there is more to it than sun signs, compatibility, and vague horoscopes. They're ignorant and uneducated. I think if you're going to bash something, learn about it first. That way you can sound somewhat intelligent when you state an argument.
Those are all the reasons I can think of, also, all questions appear on the main page AND the category page for that question.

I've been questioning that as well. I'm glad you asked it, because it doesn't only apply to this particular subject.
I think people feel self important when they criticize others. They feel that they are better than the person asking the question.
I feel that one should only answer a question if they seriously have something to say, not just "Oh, what a stupid question dude...".

As a professional astrologer, I don't mind the doubters... it's the minimally-informed people who keep asking the same question over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over...
Are we compatible?
Are we compatible?
Are we compatible?
Are we compatible?
Are we compatible?
Are we compatible?
There is more to life than compatability...
