You want to be a doctor/scientist and your parents want you to study English????
Ask your school counselor for a list of science related careers to give your parents. And type "bio chem careers" into your search engine--all sorts of jobs will pop up.
You could teach, you could practice medicine, you could do medical research, you could work in hospitals, universities. You might do medical engineering and invent medical devices to save lives.
If money is their only concern, you will make more money in science than in English. (You'll be in school longer, but you will make more money after.) And you will be happy. Stick up for your self, do some research, and give them data that backs up your wishes.

Your parents must have gone to liberal arts colleges (not saying that's a BAD thing!). But there are tons of very important jobs involving science... biochemists, physicists, researchers, doctors, teachers, pharmacists...
And really, isn't it more important that you go into a profession you love? Do what you love and the $$ will follow.
Furthermore, aren't most people either History/English people or Math/Science people? If you're a M/S and they want you to be a H/E, your likelihood of success falls drastically.

Science careers pay way more than English careers. I have a degree in history (humanities like English) and I was pretty much limited to teaching, which is not high paying. Go with what you love, if you do well in school in science, you will probably do well in it in college. Good luck!

Researchers earn good money in science. Bio chem could mean you could be helping design new drugs to help people. You could also teach.
