I am not on welfare so the state could care less about my order. He pays only 25 dollars every three months so they don't revoke his license. He works under the table as a handyman for cash, but I don't have proof. He is supposed to pay me 500 a month! This has been going on for three years...

Child support has become a way of life for some women which is really sad for the kids. You decided to have this child so now it's your duty as a mother to be everything your child needs. Why waste your energy on a man whose not worth the time. Be all you can be for your daughter, I'm sorry to say there's nothing you can do to change her fathers ways. In the end you will reap the benefits, your child will know who put food on her table, clothes on her back, and a roof over her head. You yourself will be a stronger person for it as well.

I have the same problem. Although I was on welfare for about a year while trying to attend college and care for my son (11 yrs old now) and daughter (7yrs old now). This was about 7 yrs ago. The system then tried to push the child support issue. Nothing happened my sons father works under the table and does not file taxes either. His child support is set at $90 a month and has been since 1996. I did what I had to in order to get help while atteneding college. Thats that only time that child support was addressed until about 5 yrs ago. Before I was fine with raising my son and not worrying where his father was, but then I got tired of my boyfriend being put through the ringer, paying his child support and everything else that his kids needed, eventhough they lived with their mother, who never seemed to have any money, even with the child support. Anyway, other long story. I seen how much was going out and finally through that the $90.00 a month support was unfair. I requested that child support be modified, seeing how I am working and my son is in school, his father doing whatever, he should be helping support my child. I didn't seem to be getting anywhere, until one day his father called me and told me that he found out he had warrant out for his arrest and wanted to know if I could help him by appearing in Court. Yeah right, me help him. All in all he got 5 yrs probation, suppose to $90 a month plus $97 toward that back pay and all other conditions of probation. Needless to say, he is not doing any of that. He is still free to do as he wants. I am in the position that in order to modify child support and let him know that he still has a financial responsibility to my child I have to get an attorney in order to get anything done.

I have never relied on child support as a mean for caring for my kids. I don't expect to recieve a check each month, therefore, when I do recieve it I tend to do something nice for my kids and apply the rest to a bill or put it away for something fun for my kids and I to do. God knows if i relied on the child support in order to support my kids, they would have nothing.

good luck and I hope that you get what you child deserves.

This isn't the most nice thing to do but my mother was having really bad problems getting child support from my father. She wasn't on welfare either and couldn't keep paying lawyers to go after him. I'm not sure if this is state or federal law but she was able to get the IRS to keep his tax return. Apparently if you have proof he didn't pay child support they can withhold his federal refund. Also if you know his Social Security Number or at least his date of birth you can call the IRS and see if he is paying taxes, telling them he works under the table. They will investigate him in a heart beat if you can give them enough info about him. Again its not the Nice's thing to do but whatever you got to do, do it.

I don't know what you can do and I'm sorry you have this problem. My ex only pays $200 a month and he doesn't always give me the money...only when he feels like it. I can't afford an attorney.

He earns way more than he has stated and has never paid taxes in his life. He is self employed but puts his business in other people's names.....talk about a deadbeat!

Did you know the IRS has a tip line where you can report his working for cash under the table? They will figure out what he owes them and you can be the recipient of a reward for the information. You do have to declare the reward money and pay taxes on it, but that is a small price to pay.

Plan on never getting that money. Or quit your job and go on welfare.
