i was diliated to 3 cm for 3 weeks before i went in to labor so you might have a while yet! but everyone is different!

I know you're getting anxious. I remember! When I was pregnant the first time, I was dilated to 1 for 2 weeks. So, it may be a while. Of course, I have heard of others who did go into labor much more quickly than that. It also depends on whether the baby has dropped and whether you are effaced and how far you are effaced. I hope that it happens soon or that you are granted patience while waiting~ well, I guess that it happens soon then, because patience does not come easily to an expectant mother.

No not really. I had a friend who was dilated to 1 cm for a WHOLE week and a half before she went into labor! 1 c.m. is a long way from going into labor! I know it sucks just hand on there and soon you will have a beautiful baby!

I was dialated 1 for 2 weeks and finally made it to 2cm after another week. But then it was 2 days untill my water broke. You can be 1-2cm for weeks or even a month but atleast the process has started. when My doc told me I was 2cm he said if I wanted to get the show on the road to have sex and more sex. I did and 2 days I had my daughter.

Ugh, unfortunately, not necessarily. You could go into labor today...or walk around like that for weeks! I was dilated to 2 or 3 for like a month.

Just because you are dialated does not mean that you will be going into labor soon. It cold be another month before you go into labor. Bummer isn't it?

You haven't mentioned how many weeks pregnant you are, this is a bigger clue to how close you may be to giving birth than being 1cm dilated.
Women can be 1cm dilated for weeks and weeks before going into labour. Then again it may happen tomorrow.
In isolation, being 1cm dilated doesn't give any real indication.

Hate to say no, but no, I have had moms sit at 3-5cm for weeks without starting labor...but 1cm is at least some progress!
