I am rather disappointed like always with the RSA's exit. South African team has this habit of shocking its supporters. I never considered them a team of a big match. Look at the history of South African cricket after their revival in 1992 except for a few tournaments they always did the same which they did in caribbeans. Remember the 1999 world cup semi final? Last over 9 runs needed and Klusener hits first two balls to the fence and then a stupid mix up resulting in a tie match and Australians going through.

I am a bit upset emotionally, but rationally it was the fated game for the RSA to loose after they lost to Bangladesh.

However, it certainly could not compensate my terrible feeling of 'upset' when both of my favorite teams India and Pakistan were unable to go to the Super Eight.

Therefore, I think that the mighty players and their teams prevailed till the Finals and let us look forward to tomorrow's very exciting final where both the teams Australia and Sri Lanka would be, hopefully, displaying their best ever performances.

I also totally disappointed at the performance of South African Cricket Team in the semi finals. Having qualified for the semi final berth after struggling, they were expected to play much better as in all previous occasions when they played the semi finals against Australia they were unlucky to loose the matches and as such I thought they will come out strongly this time to avenge the previous defeacts. However, unfortunately they were not even 50% of their known potential in the semi final.

If there is one team which has been unlucky as far as winning the World Cup is concerned, then it is South Africa. Always radiating promise and potential, the Proteas have failed to win the cup despite fielding talented sides in the past. They were a stone’s throw away from winning the cup in 1999 when Gibbs put down the catch of Aussie Captain Steven Waugh and thence lost the semifinal match and the World Cup too!

The team for the 2007 World Cup has a good mix of aggressive talented and experienced players. They also have a good breed of fast bowlers like Ntini, Pollock and Nel who can pose threat to any batting line up in the tournament with their pace and discipline.

Team

Strengths- Aggressive batting, good allrounders and fine pace attack

Weaknesses- Lacks quality spinners and experience in the batting order
.

South Africa was banned indefinitely from international cricket in 1970, owing to the apartheid policies of its government. The ban was lifted in 1991 and South Africa entered the Cricket World Cup for the first time in 1992.

1992 World Cup

The world was still a stranger to South African team's abilities when the latter entered the World Cup in 1992. Whatever must have been other teams' estimation of the South African side, nobody expected it to reach the semi-final like it did.

South Africa effected major upsets to build its way into the world cup; it defeated teams like Australia, India, Pakistan and West Indies. The semi-final was a beginning of a jinx that still surrounds South Africa. The match was between South Africa and England. A target of 252 runs was set by England before South Africa. Going into the chase, South Africa needed 22 runs off 13 balls when rain stopped play. Since Duckworth-Lewis method was not introduced yet, South Africa was left with a ridiculous situation of scoring 21 runs of 1 ball.

1996 World Cup

South Africa made a spirited start in the. It topped Pool B, without a single defeat. The was set against the much weakened West Indies; things look propitious for South Africa to repeat the 1992 World Cup entry into the semi-final and even beyond. All such expectations were incinerated by the rage West Indies was in after an ignominious defeat against Kenya. South Africa lost against West Indies by 19 runs- a sad end to an impressive start.

1999 World Cup

In this World Cup too, South Africa topped the Group A table in the league matches. In the semi-final, South Africa was to play against Australia. Given to bat, Australia was bundled out by some wonderful bowling by Allan Donald and Pollock, to a total of 213. South Africa too was stopped exactly at 213. The match was awarded to Australia by the virtue of the fact that it had beaten South Africa in the super-six matches.

2003 World Cup

The World Cup turned out to be a disappointing one for South Africa. Perhaps such are the gestures obligated by the duty of being the host nation, South Africa made a graceful exit in the first round itself and let the stage open for the visiting teams to vie among themselves for the World Cup.

World cup 2007
World champions Australia dismissed a feeble South Africa challenge on Wednesday with a seven-wicket victory to take their place in Saturday's World Cup final against Sri Lanka in Barbados.
