Yes, I believe this world to be beautiful!
There is a separation here of what you ask and what you follow on with: the world in its current material state without people being involved is a very beautiful place. Scenery which takes the breath away, animals and richness of colours abound. But then even of the people which populate the world have beauty in them. Beauty has to be assigned by you to a thing before it will hold that state in you and until you are able to grant beauty it's place it will be a sad and ugly thing. For you won't see richness in people, but only a distance and distrust of all.

Nothing is perfect, but in general, there is by far more beauty in this world than lack of it. It just takes the right attitude to know that.
If one allows 1% ugliness to cloud their view of 99% beauty, one would have a hard time ever seeing beauty in anything.
If one regards material wealth as required for "beauty", and not intrinsic wealth (such as friends, health, personal ethics, faith), one would have a hard time thinking the world is beautiful.
If one regards 100% social acceptance (which NO ONE has) as required for a beautiful life, and not personal fulfillment, one would have a hard time thinking the world is beautiful.
If one only regards the consumption or physical participation of a resource as beauty, and not the potential for it, one would have a hard time thinking the world is beautiful.

Some days I believe the world is spectacular, some days I'm disgusted with it.
We choose what we want to see, we create our own universe. If we 'choose' ( not always consciously) to focus on the ugly, we will always see an ugly world. If we pay more attention to the beauty, we will see a more beautiful world. I think it's wise to 'choose' to see the beauty. We raise the earths vibration when we emit love.

Are you asking about the world, or are you asking about society?
The world is beautiful, yes. A better question would be "Why do we think so?" What is beauty? How can an octogenarian still find a sunset to be beautiful, why hasn't he become jaded?
Society is not beautiful. At this point, we're little more than shaved apes. We've got definite potential, though.

It cannot be "think", for thinking gives a meanings of ugliness as well. Eventually it will take over for we are relying broadly on our 5 senses directed outside.Even Beauty would be seen as an ugliness in some cases...if your life is based on like/dislike paradigm. In another word we believe in what we see....we see and we think as follows....Beauty in contrary must be felt..no thinking involved. That we are completely forgot, allowing our judgment based of five senses to rule our personal worlds...With our ongoing judgments Beauty easily turnes to be Ugliness and that what we see mostly...

in some ways i do believe that the world is beautiful. but when u think about it.. it's not. people do bad things and it keeps the world from being beautiful. but if u live somewhere far away from bad stuff like that. then it is.

Is it possible to be beautiful, and yet to be unloving, even terrifying, a beauty that is worthy of worship, yet undeserving of such honors? It is precisely this beauty that the world manifests.

I would say this world is diverse. If this world was only beautiful it would be boring. Thats why it has contrast between ugly and beautiful. Open minded & closed minded. Negetive & positive. This is why we are still living otherwise we would have already killed ourselves of being bored. Reminds me of "PLEASANTVILLE" movie.

The world can look dreary.
But you have to look deeper.
Then you shall see the beauty.
