It's not that people hate the Mavs, but people don't really pay attention to them. Even in the city of Dallas, the sports radio stations talk more about the Cowboys and the Rangers than the Mavs. They get about the same mention as the soccer and arena football teams there.

I think it's because the Mavs players just do not appeal to the general American public. The "star" player is German and listens to David Hasselhoff. The other players are not dominant and do not have the "cool" appeal like Lebron or Wade. Or the "thug" appeal like Iverson. And they don't do anything that gets on the news like Kobe. The NBA fans just can't connect with any of the individual players and actually knows very little about them. So, they're always only in the background and not really liked, but not hated.
And you can barely buy any Mavs fanwear outside of Dallas. I live in LA and I fly to Dallas to buy Mavs stuff because there just aren't any around (aside from the internet).

I don't think anyone really cares about Dallas. I know I don't. They went up 2-0 in finals and lost 4-2. Who cares if they make it. No one remember the runner up. They're okay but I don't like them or hate them.

I don't hate them, I just don't like the fact that they chocked last year and gave the Heat the Championship! But it looks good for them this year. If they can win 1 or 2 on the road vs Golden State its over! Lets not count out the Lakers yet, this is the NBA... anything can happen!

1) People love to root for the underdogs.

2) People feel like they were sore losers in the finals last year.

3) People do not think that Dirk deserves MVP.

4) People hate Mark Cuban.

Because the Mavs are slowly becoming like the Cowboys....either love them or hate them. This is evident from the increased Mavs fan base at away games (just like da 'boys).

Mark Cuban got RKOed. Maybe only him. I'm a Mavs fan.

Plenty of reasons. It's full of Texans, for one thing. The Cowboys play there - that's another good reason. The overrated Mavs play there, in front of their pastel-wearing, sitting-on-hands, plastic body parts, Bush-loving, gun-toting, hayseed fans.
