as my most recent cuts were not so complicated, i chose to visit a barber shop...i don`t think there`s anything wrong with it...i feel like some women are intimidated to go to a barber, because traditionally, most barbers were men & the majority of the clients were male, making a woman feel out of place...but i think barbers can be just as good as a cosmetologist...they have to go thru extensive training just as a normal hairstylist would...perhaps they are not so familiar with some of the complicated chemical processes that are out there, but then again it`s possible...u just have to ask the barber what experience he or she has & then decide from there...but now i don`t have to visit the barber or cosmetologist, i have my own clippers & i do it or my boyfriend does!!!

Do you mean salons over barber shops? Barber shops typically cater to styling men's hair and salons typically cater to styling women's hair.

I wouldn't have thought women would prefer barber shops.
Barber shops are usually drab places.
