no, its because of ur surrounding. they are talking out of ignorance and dont know no better because of what has happened in ur family and what is happening around you. just try not to let it get to u so much and know where ur going in life so it wont happen. others find it easy to judge when they know nothing about u or ur culture.

I've heard people talk and stuff, and what what ive heard its mostly because they see puerto rican people as being the ones to "want attention from white people" and that they "dress the slutiest." Theres a lot of puerto Rican people at our school. -and I think another reason is maybe because of all the illegal immigration. I'll be honest. We as Americans are ignorant to new culture and honestly cannot tell the difference between someone that is Mexican, Dominican Repuplic, Cuban, Puerto Rican or whatever... The only ones that can tell the difference to us are the people within those nationalities. -and I think that the country right now is at an all time anger surge, mostly because of recent issues concerning the immigrants, and we seem to be more hostile toward them as a whole. Im not saying its right, im just saying that thats why I think maybe your going trough this. Sorry you feel bad, and give it time. Best luck for you!

I have never heard that before, (never has nay one said 'Puerto Ricans are sluts'). Its called 'Guilty by Association'. No matter who you are or where you are, if you are around people that are, others will think of you that way, it sucks but its life. The only thing to do is to over come it! Show everyone that they are wrong! Show them you are a Strong Puerto Rican woman, and you are you not like the other stereotypical people that they compare you to! Have faith! The world is evil, don't fall into it! Good Luck!

I doubt it has anything to do with race. More on the kids today. Most girls & boys are losing their virginity sooner. In fact, statistcally speaking, girls are now losing their virginity as young as 12! Where it use to be 15, 25 yrs ago. btw, I lost mine at 15 with a long term b/f. I wish I had waited til HELL froze over! LOL Men/boys will say what we girls WANT to hear...they get "our junk in our trunk" then cheat or break up.
My b/f of 4+ yrs is NOT like this: only proving that NOT ALL boys/men are like this. But I sure hope YOU will wait...make the boys CRY! Say NO to them...if MORE girls said NO the teen over sexed stereotype would soon disappear! I would rather it be over sexed college students rather than 12-16! Sorry life were all living...make up for all us gals who didnt wait...MAKE THEM BOYS WAIT...and FEEL THE POWER!!

I grew up in a ghetto in Southern CA, and people thought the same thing of any girl who lived there. My parents had many apts. there, and so, I was considered BAD by people, although I was not. I kept my head, stayed out of trouble, and made a good life for myself. Live well, and show yourself that you are really the person you want to be! I never worried about what the 'other' people thought. When we moved to a fancy neighborhood, I refused to date the same fellows who thought they were too good for me, while I lived in the ghetto.

The majority of people do not feel this way at all.
Most people have a very high respect
and admiration for Puerto Ricans.
The people who have expressed this bigotry toward
you are probably just very ignorant people who --
in reality -- are extremely envious of you and they
wish they could be you or could have your heritage.
Trust me -- most people in the world have
nothing but respect for Puerto Ricans
and pride in Puerto Rican heritage.

Unfortunately, many people do that kind of generalization. It's easier than actually using their brains. You don't need to respond to that kind of garbage, but it would help to be able to talk to someone about how it makes you feel to hear it. Do the best you can, stand up for yourself as much as you can, and try not to do things that you know are dumb. That's all any of us can do. There are good folks around; try to stick with them and help each other.

It must be one of the many stupid stereotypes out there, although I have never heard of it. If lots of the girls in your family have kids really young, perhaps they just assume you will too. I'm sorry they make you feel like that......
It would be one thing if they tried to talk to you about making good choices, etc. but to just say 'I bet ur not a virgin' is both insulting and tactless.

No ,I think it has to do with education and parenting. Your not a slut neither are your young family members, Just sounds as though they were not very well educated on teen pregnancy and life skills, I blame the parents.
