If it's just for you and 1 more person, then u can't go wrong with the "SMART" car, a great little run around plus u can change the outer bodywork!

If its for more than two, then try the Toyota Aygo, still only small but relaiable and can seat 4 comfortably, or try the Yaris, it's brill!

Something slightly bigger? Try the New Mazda 2 which is coming out in September, it's got a really good boot size, can sit 5 adults easy.

Nissan Micra or Vauxhall Corsa. Both are a great drive and economical. My mate has a fiat panda which is good as long as you don't want to break any speed records.

All depends on how much you want to spend. If you want to go with reliability I would get a Civic or Corolla.
